Canadair CL-215 with registration M71-02

Today we have visitor from Agensi Penguatkuasaan Maritim Malaysia or well known as APMM. They came and landing at Sandakan from Tawau for refueling before proceed to Kota Kinabalu. It was the 1st time the amphibian aircraft like that landing at Sandakan. We in DCA Sandakan are very proud to see the aircraft landing here. We hope to see this aircraft again soon.

TAHNIAH EN. YAZID HILMI BIN YAHYA

DCA Sandakan mengucapkan sekalung tahniah kepada En Yazid Hilmi Bin Yahya kerana terpilih untuk menerima Anugerah Khidmat Cemerlang 2009 yang akan diadakan di Putrajaya pada 20 Mei 2010. Anugerah Khidmat Cemerlang adalah berdasarkan sumbangan bakti dan pengorbanan yang dilakukan sebagai seorang penjawat awam yang berdedikasi terhadap jabatan terbabit. Sesungguhnya DCA Sandakan berharap kesemua pegawai akan mencontohi yang terbaik dan bersama sama memajukan jabatan kita.

Validation Check for Hor Sin Ann

Finally Hor Sin Ann PPKTU A29 was rated as Aerodrome/Approach Controller in Sandakan. Mr Ooi Chuan Leong from KL and assist by Mr Suhaili checked him on 11 and 12 May 2010.

MESYUARAT PEMBENTANGAN PROSEDUR ATS SANDAKAN

Pada 10 Mei hingga 11 Mei 2010, satu mesyuarat bersama oleh Timbalan Pengarah Wilayah (ACC) En. Wong Sie Tzen dan PKTU En. Loh Yew Khang dengan Pegawai Kawalan Trafik Udara Sandakan telah diadakan. Mesyuarat bertujuan untuk mengemaskini prosedur prosedur koordinasi dan operasi telah dihadiri oleh pegawai pegawai terbabit. Tahniah kepada Pegawai Kawalan Trafik Udara Sandakan kerana telah menjayakan program dan sesungguhnya ia telah berjaya membuahkan keputusan dan ketetapan bersama yang bernas. Mesyuarat Kakitangan DCA Sandakan Mei 2010

Mesyuarat kakitangan Jabatan Penerbangan Awam Sandakan telah diadakan pada 7 Mei 2010 bertempat di bilik mesyuarat jabatan. Mesyuarat telah dipengerusikan oleh pengurus jabatan iaitu En. Amir Hamzah Bin Hj Abbas dan dihadiri oleh kakitangan kakitangan yang terbabit.

Sandakan Validation Check

It is a well-defined structure, with trainees undertaking their 3 months validation and then progressing to join the qualified ATCO. Check day had been done in Sandakan on 5th-6th May 2010 by Dr Manjit Singh from Air Traffic Inspectorate Division. Photos posted were taken during the validation process.

LAUGH IS THE BEST MEDICINE !!

Allegedly the German air controllers at Frankfurt Airport are renowned as a short-tempered lot. They, it is alleged, not only expect one to know one's gate parking location, but how to get there without any assistance from them. So it was with some amusement that we (a Pan Am 747) listened to the following exchange between Frankfurt ground control and a British Airways 747, call sign Speedbird 206.
Speedbird 206: "Frankfurt, Speedbird 206 clear of active runway."
Ground: "Speedbird 206. Taxi to gate Alpha One-Seven." The BA 747 pulled onto the main taxiway and slowed to a stop.
Ground: "Speedbird, do you not know where you are going?"
Speedbird 206: "Stand by, Ground, I'm looking up our gate location now."
Ground (with quite arrogant impatience): "Speedbird 206, have you not been to Frankfurt before?"
Speedbird 206 (coolly): "Yes, twice in 1944, but it was dark,... and I didn't land."

Dialogue Sandakan Air Traffic Controllers with PWII and Mr Wong Sze Tzen

Dialogue session between Sandakan ATC with PWII and Mr Wong Sze Tzen was held in DCA Sandakan Meeting Room on March 12th. The closed dialogue session lasted for almost 3 hours and discussed mainly on operational issues regarding Sandakan Aerodrome. Attached here are photos taken during the meeting.

On 11 MAC 2010, Sandakan Air Traffic Controllers had a wonderful dinner with 3 key Department Of Civil Aviation Sabah officers, PWII and Mr Wong Sze Tzen in Sim Sim Fresh Seafood Restaurant. The dinner was also attended by DCA Sandakan admin staff and all of us had a great fun together. Attached are photos taken during dinner. Enjoy!!

DPM ARRIVES FOR 1 DAY VISIT IN SANDAKAN

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin arrived at the Sandakan Airport here on Thursday's morning (11 MAC 2010) for a one-day working visit to Sandakan. He was greeted on arrival by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman and several federal and state ministers as well as senior federal and state government officials. Sandakan Airport would like to welcome all passengers from Kudat to Sandakan. The new route is operating 2 times per week (MON and THURS) and serviced by DHC6 (Twin Otter). The Kudat-Sandakan air service has commenced its operation effectively on 1st February 2010 and we are anticipating an increase of volume of traffics from that sector. New Layout Plan As Per Planned for Sandakan Airport

Sandakan Airport (IATA: SDK, ICAO: WBKS) is a domestic airport that serves Sandakan, a city in the state of Sabah in Malaysia. It is located about 13 kilometers from the town and in 2005, the airport handled 621,513 passengers and registered 10,876 flights. As the year goes on, Sandakan is anticipating more and more inbound traffic and thus, as a gift to Sandakan people, government has agreed to allocate millions for airport upgrading purposes. As for a temporary, attached below are photos of layout hard copies of future development of Sandakan Airport.

DVOR and ILS Calibration at Sandakan Aerodrome

On 10/02/2010, Sandakan Aerodrome was under DVOR commission by Calibrator 2. It tags the aircraft with registration 9M-FCL. This thrilling LR60 is owned by Department of Civil Aviation and it has carried out hundreds of ILS and DVOR commissioning at all aerodromes throughout Malaysia. This calibration process has to be done at all airports and navigation aids to comply the civil aviation legislation ICAO Annex 1,4,6,10 and 14. Our Captains are Capt. Rahman and Capt. Jamal.
