SANDAKAN AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS ON FISHING TRIP

Hello everyone,

After a long stretch of months without any fishing, Sandakan Air Traffic Controllers from Sandakan Airport, got out for our first outing of the year 2012. And we were happy that DCA Sandakan Manager, Mr. KD Lai and SATCO, Mr. Herman joined the trip.

24March2012, all set at 8 am, gathered at Sandakan Town Jetty. It was beautifully shady morning but a little on the windy side.

From left : KD Lai, Yazid and Yassin

We rounded the first bend hoping for respite from the wind, but winds snaked down the Pulau Bai lagoon consistently.

KD Lai said, "My first ever grouper and the honor of landing the first fish goes to me".

Yassin with his Ketambak fish ( Red Ear Emperor fish)

Not to be forgotten. Mr Herman and his license.
It's grouper feast tonight.

RM1.50 breakfast. Reddish and spicy. Nasi kuning and Fried Bihun

Relaxation - Life is stressful these days and it is only getting worse and fishing is the ultimate relaxation tool.

Someone has got one too.

The following photo by Yazid is a good demonstration of how to cast a fishing reel and you may get 2 in a row. Remember to practice in the back yard or at the local park first - without hooks!!

Thinking of what to cook today.
That's cool man.

Hamdan and his 370g Red Snapper. Awesome
Is that Mr Crab from SpongeBob?
Herman said, " Haji Yassin, do you wanna take all these".
And he answered, " Bah ya lah...Bagi la labih labih sikit. Ramai bah aku di rumah".
After hours of fishing and it's time to take a rest.
The handsome captain of the day. Only one fish and not his lucky day. You may try again next time

A great day on the water and looking forward to go home

As grouper goes I would have to consider this trip a sweet success, as anytime you can spot some fish and a least get a take or two you are doing something right. Plus it doesn't get much better than exploring Pulau Bai lagoon with  all of your good friends.

Our warmest and special thank is  to DCASandakan club for the sponsor. We are also exceptionally blessed and fortunate to our friends who had to work at the tower on behalf of us.

Our next trip would be at Pulau Nunuyan (Nunuyan Island) or Pulau Libaran (Libaran Island). Well, as for now, that's part of the agenda.

Till then, catch you again in next trip.
