Sandakan Airport would like to welcome all passengers from Kudat to Sandakan. The new route is operating 2 times per week (MON and THURS) and serviced by DHC6 (Twin Otter). The Kudat-Sandakan air service has commenced its operation effectively on 1st February 2010 and we are anticipating an increase of volume of traffics from that sector. New Layout Plan As Per Planned for Sandakan Airport

Sandakan Airport (IATA: SDK, ICAO: WBKS) is a domestic airport that serves Sandakan, a city in the state of Sabah in Malaysia. It is located about 13 kilometers from the town and in 2005, the airport handled 621,513 passengers and registered 10,876 flights. As the year goes on, Sandakan is anticipating more and more inbound traffic and thus, as a gift to Sandakan people, government has agreed to allocate millions for airport upgrading purposes. As for a temporary, attached below are photos of layout hard copies of future development of Sandakan Airport.



DVOR and ILS Calibration at Sandakan Aerodrome

On 10/02/2010, Sandakan Aerodrome was under DVOR commission by Calibrator 2. It tags the aircraft with registration 9M-FCL. This thrilling LR60 is owned by Department of Civil Aviation and it has carried out hundreds of ILS and DVOR commissioning at all aerodromes throughout Malaysia. This calibration process has to be done at all airports and navigation aids to comply the civil aviation legislation ICAO Annex 1,4,6,10 and 14. Our Captains are Capt. Rahman and Capt. Jamal. On last 27 January 2010, one of DCA Sandakan staff has been transfered to DCA Lahad Datu. Her name is Cik Nurul Wazihah Binti Mokrim (W17). Since everybody was busy that time, no farewell party made for her. However, we bought special gift. To Cik Nurul, wish you the best!
