KLIA RANKS 7TH IN BEST AIRPORT SURVEY

Bernama, August 22, 2013.

The Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has been named the seventh best airport in Agoda.com's best airports customer survey.

KLIA scored 3.56 over 5, trailing behind heavyweights such as Singapore's Changi International Airport (4.37), which grabbed the best airport title and Hong Kong International Airport (4.13) is at the second spot.

KLIA, which handled 40 million passengers last year, is noted for its distance from the city it serves about 50Km away. The airport is also one of the largest airports in terms of area used, Agoda said in a statement today.

Customers-cum-travellers were asked to rate 15 airports in Asia including Beijing, Ho Chi Minh City, Manila, Phnom Penh and Taipei on a onee (poor) to five (excellent) scale.

The rankings were based on more than 11,000 respondents.

KUCHING: Tourism Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Openg hopes MASwings will turn its old aircraft into amphibian planes to expand the state’s array of tourist attractions.

“The old planes can be fixed with floats to become amphibious. I hope MASwings can realise this project within a year,” he told reporters at Tourism Malaysia Sarawak’s Hari Raya Open House here yesterday.

He added he was happy that MASwings was buying five new Twin Otters.

“Having more flights means we can serve more tourists. I am happy tourist arrivals this year are more than the corresponding period last year.”

On river transportation, he said a 70-seater catamaran passenger boat costing RM1.5 million and boasting modern facilities will soon take to Sungai Sarawak.

It will be joined by two environmentally-friendly passenger boats.

Abang Johari said the catamaran will be unveiled during Sarawak Regatta 2013 next month.

Besides taking guests for a view of Sarawak River, the catamaran will also be used to ferry passengers from Grand Magherita Hotel to Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).

The jetty at BCCK will be linked to its lobby. This proposed link, costing RM5.6 million, has been approved by the federal government.

“The catamaran is designed by an Australian Company and built in Sibu. It will provide an alternative form of transport for those who are attending conventions at BCCK.

“This catamaran will be berthed at Grand Magherita Hotel. It is owned by Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) and Sarawak SEDC will be managing the boat,” he added.

On the two environmental-friendly passenger boats, he said each would be able to accommodate up to eight tourists.

“These noiseless boats have been ordered from Australia. It will be operated by battery that can last eight hours. The battery only needs 30 minutes to be recharged.

KD LAI AND HAJI YASSIN'S FAREWELL PARTY - 27.08.2013

Hello everyone,

Let's get real. We don't love all our departing co-workers equally.

Yet, as lots of colleagues leave, we go through the emotions. Probably a sad one. A reminder on office white board flashes across everybody's mind, "Farewell Party at Sabah Hotel  to say goodbye to Haji Yassin and KD Lai.

I'm sure we all want a nice send-off."
Here's are few pics taken during the party.
