Hello again,
Theory without practice is a total waste. Practice without theory may just be so dumb.
This report is a summary of the briefing of State Fire and Rescue Services (SFRS) and Runway Safety for MAB Sandakan officers carried out in DCA Sandakan on July 28th 2011. (We have used the acronym SFRS to apply both to singular and plural versions for convenience).
SFRS briefing was delivered by Mr Hairie [SFRS Training Officer] and Runway Safety Briefing was conducted by Mr Wong Sie Tzen [Deputy Director DCA Kinabalu]. The session started with SFRS on theory/practical on how to put off the fire. They offer all aspects of Industrial/Residential/Properties Fire Training and others to anyone who wish to learn on how to handle fire. Whether the purpose is one of team building exercises or indeed professional fire training, their fire instructors are fully qualified and insured with years of experience.
After the program and at the request of aviation related officers and personnel, DCA Sandakan also initiated a program entitled Runway Safety Briefing to all DCA Sandakan and MAB Sandakan staff. This was an effort with participants representing the full spectrum of aviation community. The briefing was reviewing in 3 different key areas which were runway safety, runway incursion and runway confusion.
